Fun Facts

Regardless of past musical/childhood education training or experience (and our teachers have a great mix of both), ALL Kindermusik teachers through the world go through the same high quality training before they can be officially licensed to teach your child. We study not only childhood musical pedagogy but child development at the college level and receive credit for the classes and training in order to become licensed. Further, we must renew our license yearly in order to meet Kindermusik's rigorous, high quality standards. So please be aware that, aside from the highest quality curriculum around, there is a great difference in the way that musical programs train and credential their teachers.

Kindermusik curriculum is developed by world -respected experts in child development and music. It has gained the most endorsements from both groups, as well as from many parent non-profit groups throughout the world. Best selling, award-winning author of Raising Your Spirited Child, Mary Sheedy Kurchinka, speaks accolades about how each activity in our curriculum can help a child develop their whole being-cognitive, emotional, social, physical, language and musical development. A brochure quoting her words and other child experts thoughts on Kindermusik is available upon request. She also provided developmental advice to parents in the Kindermusik newsletters that are passed out to you by your teacher.

Kindermusik curricula is rich with multicultural influences. We learn songs and activities from all over the world, including Europe, Africa, China, South America and other countries, as well as regional music from all over the U.S.A.

We do no strive to be the largest program in the world or in the area, for that matter. Rather, we are proud of our smaller class size and are confident that you are getting a higher quality of personal attention from your teacher in a more moderate size classroom rather than one with 15+ children. Still, we seek and welcome new referrals into our program, and we will add classes as needed to accommodate serving the newly interested families.

To show our appreciation for your referral, we will give you $10 credit towards your next semester for EACH family you refer who enrolls in the program. The new family can attend a trial class at any time (we prefer that you contact Lisa prior to the class to make arrangements) and enroll right after class. Make sure that they tell the teacher who referred them for us to keep track of the credits!!

Also, remember that each sibling after the first enrollment will receive a full 15% off their tuition!!

POLICIES, MAKE-UP SESSIONS, ETC.

As most of you know, we have a flexible make-up policy. We appreciate you taking care of yourself or child by staying home if you are truly ill, and we welcome you attending on of our other teacher's classes to make up the missed class. Check with your teacher for other class times/days.

Other policies to keep in mind: Children move best with their shoes and socks off. You may choose to keep their socks on in colder weather, however, for sanitary reasons, please ensure that their shoes are off.

Our classes are non-competitive and meant to be fun first and foremost. During the early childhood years, children learn best when we let them freely experiment and explore in an enriching, stimulating environment with some structure. We also believe in a mix of active learning and focused activities. Never force your child to do an activity, but try to encourage or model the activity for your child. If your child would rather explore, follow them and let them do so (as long as they are not hurting themselves, others or personal property, of course). Our waiting room is intended for a sometimes-needed break with your child. I frequent this area a couple minutes each week with Brandon to help him refocus his energy!! We also have restrooms and water fountains should the need arise.

We have antibacterial wipes available in each class. If your child mouths an instrument, please wipe it off, or give it to your teacher to wipe off. We don't want to be neurotic about germs, but in cold/flu season around the preschool years, even the smallest infection may spread if left unchecked.
